“All great changes are preceded by chaos.” -Deepak Chopra

Attraversiamo!! = Let's cross over.

This is how the book "eat pray love " end. As I finished the much talked about book I too like the author Elizabeth Gilbert was ready to cross over.

A Lesson in Gratitude

"Gratitude is an art of painting an adversity into a lovely picture."  ~Kak Sri

We as humans are pretty good at complaining. We can hardly find a day in which we are contented and happy about our life and all that is happening in and around it. I am just as human as any of you. I complain on most days about my job, my boss, my toddler, my lack of motivation to blog and so on. But there is a simple thing that we could do to make our life a little better....and that is to have an attitude of gratitude.

Even Never

Even Never

When he looks, she draws her eyes away,
and when she looks he does the same.
Yet he knows and she knows too,
that each is made for the other.
It is kind of like a spell,
binding two together.
And though one does not tell the other,
the feelings are clearly sensed.
There will come a time,
when eyes will speak,
and lips utter no words.
When eyes will glance into eyes,
to see the message deep within.

I wonder when that time will come,
when the two open up to each other.
Maybe soon, maybe later...
or even never.

Dear Reader,

This one needs no introduction.....does it? Anyone who has been in his or her teens would at some point of their life fall into what they believe is LOVE. But the truth is it is just infatuation and with the passage of time it tends to fade away mostly.
For me any form of attraction is not love until it materializes into a bond that lasts for a life time.

I know many who have fallen in and out of love numerous times while there are still others who are married to their childhood friend who they later began to love.

The Midnight Act

The Midnight Act

As darkness conceals the earth,
and the stars glow on the black veiled sky,
I attested a scene of majesty,
as the moon clothed in white royalty,
took her place among the rest.
Like a Queen of brightness and in quest,
for a king, among her subjects just.

Around her dazzled the stars - her subjects,
but none were a match to her brightness,
none as splendid as her.
No, not even one to attract her.

She was upset and sad,
as she had not found a mate,
and covering herself in the cloud of darkness,
she disappeared into the blackness.
As I gazed and gazed along.

Dear Reader,
Most people consider the moon as being male. But I always have thought of it as being a female.
Don't ask me why because I may not have substantial evidence for my feelings. For me it just seems to be like a beautiful lonely soul who waits for her knight in shining armor every night and fades away when the sun rises.
Too romantic? Non- logical ? Yes...I agree it is....but that is the beauty of poetry!! It is left to the poets imagination.
I often feel that the sun is the moon's soul mate but they can't seem to meet due to circumstances. And on days I spot the moon while the sun has just risen or almost going to set I feel happy. It is as though the lovers are sharing sometime together before one fades away.

Maths Exam

Maths Exam

The night before my examination,
As I lay down for relaxation,
And as I close my eyes,
I dream of maths and X and Y's,
and of roots and squares,
and of triangles and circles round.

I open wide my eyes to stare,
and say to myself it's not fair,
that I should dream of maths again,
when I have had enough today.

I tell myself, that I have prepared well as well can be.
But unfortunately my fate depends on the papers that will be lend to me.
And if it's too long or too short we have just the three hours.

In the examination hall - the next morn,
I console all my friends and say :
"Come on, keep cool, it'll all be fine".
And in my case, I leave my fate in the faith of God.

But in the end it always turns out to be,
not as bad as my nights dream.

Dear Reader,

This poem was written as a Literature exercise in my 10th grade.
We had learned a poem on fear where the author describes his fear of the dentist. It was hilarious but unfortunately I don't remember its title or the name of the author now.

We were all asked to write poems about the fears we had and our teacher said the best three would be displayed on the bulletin board. Mine was one of them.....but my maths teacher was shocked that I was terrified of Maths Exams because Maths was my favorite subject.

I love Maths and that is the one subject I can spend hours practicing....but when it come to Maths Exams I have this constant fear and scary dreams in which I under perform or don't complete my paper and so on.

Who said you can't fear the thing you love? Some people love "LOVE" but they fear falling into it don't they?

Elder Sister

Elder Sister

Being the eldest,
is quite a painful stress,
thrust upon you by the rest,
for you are expected to be at your best.

But then you tend to realize,
that your place has been taken away,
by a very own part of you.

Everyone loves her more,
and she is the apple of daddy's eye.

The place which I once cherished long ago
is now just a dream,
long lost and gone.

It seems to be just not fair,
no one even seems to care.
Not a little, not a bit,
of what you wish to share.

And at times I feel a certain joy within me,
as I realize that once,
though long ago,
I too was someone great.

At least I was the first to cherish that place,
and my sister is only the next.
Dear Reader,
I would like to give a short summary for this poem. I had written this when I was in my early teens. These feeling towards my sister was evoked after I had a fight with her regarding some silly matter. But then my feeling were aggravated to pain because my dad preferred to take sides with my sister because she was much younger than me. To a strong willed teenager it seemed unfair and I started inking my thoughts which seemed to flow in the form of rhyming words. Thus I discovered that I could write poems.

I know they aren't perfect....yet I am grateful to my sister and my teenage hormones for introducing the world of poetry to me. This was one of my 1st creations and I began to develop a love for writing pores and poems in the years that followed.

Life with a Cyst

"Have you ever been hurt and the place tries to heal a bit, and you just pull the scar off of it over and over again."  ~Rosa Parks

I have been living with a cyst for the past two months. It was quite small when it first appeared. It didn't bother me much though I knew that it was there. After a while I began to notice that it was increasing in size. I still chose to ignore the small growing pimple as I thought it was some kind of heat boil that would eventually disappear on its own. But the sad fact is it didn't go anywhere.

"Someone to tell it to is one of the fundamental needs of human beings."  ~Miles Franklin

As promised this week I will be listing out posts that are relationship based.
Some of my personal favorite blog posts are from this section. Why? Well simply because they expose a part of me and let you know who I am and what I am I see views and so on....a bit more personal.

Positivity 101

Last week I had listed out topics that I covered under Organizing.
This week I have picked out topics that hopefully inspires some positivity in your life. Before I begin I have a small confession.

Organizing 101

Organize your life around your dreams - and watch them come true.”~ Unknown

As mentioned earlier in one of my previous posts I have successfully completed one year of blogging. Unlike other blogs where they organize give-away, contests and prizes I can't do all that so I thought why not give you a tour around my blog.

On Vacation!!

"A vacation is like love: anticipated with pleasure, experienced with discomfort, and remembered with nostalgia." ~ Evan Esar

So finally I am off for a month long vacation. After almost a year and 3 months the grandparents from both side of the family will be able to see their first grandson. Yes!! my parents and DH's parents are all excited to see their grandson. I hope his naughtiness which to them would seem like cuteness will not aggravate to such an extent that I find it difficult to control him when we finally get back and resume our life of threesome.

Live-In v/s Marriage

"Lust is easy.  Love is hard.  Like is most important."  ~Carl Reiner

When I was in school doing my 8th grade our religion / moral science teacher asked us a question about marriage. It was a simple one...."Do you like love marriage or arranged marriage? and give reason for your choice". Many of us were not even thinking about marriage that time though we expected it to pop up as we were dealing with the sacrament of Marriage in that particular class.

From Do I to I Do...

"One advantage of marriage is that, when you fall out of love with him or he falls out of love with you, it keeps you together until you fall in again."  ~Judith Viorst

As a young woman I had a lot of apprehensions about the institution of marriage. Though my parents were a pretty (close to) perfect example of a happily married couple I wasn't really sure I would be a success in this department because I was not like my mom and moreover the man who I would marry may not be like my dad either.

Is Marriage = Change?

"The bonds of matrimony are like any other bonds - they mature slowly."  ~Peter De Vries

I have the habit of asking people to give me their opinions or suggestions regarding things......say "what should I blog about?" ......and then just not following through with their valuable suggestions. To rectify this I have decided to write on a topic that my sister suggested me to when I asked her the above mentioned question.

Wonderful Fridays!!

"Always strive to excel, but only on weekends."  ~Richard Rorty

It is not easy for someone like me to assign days for some of the tasks I wish to do. These are tasks that I definitely enjoy but somehow get pushed off because they can be termed as indulgences in the dictionary of a working MOM.  Like say I want to pamper myself.....or apply some home beautifying ideas I had in mind....or bake a cake......and so on.
What would you do in this case? You want to do it but can't fit it in on your weekly schedule cause it is already too full. Want to know what I did?

"It's pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness.  Poverty and wealth have both failed."
~Frank McKinney

"Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."
~Nathaniel Hawthorne

"Even if happiness forgets you a little bit, never completely forget about it."
~Jacques Prévert

"If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time."
~Edith Wharton

"The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up."

Have a Stress free weekend!!

“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.” ~ Etty Hillesum

How would you define the word "Weekend"?

Weekend is a term used in combination with workweek. The week (7days) is divided into two parts - 1st part consists of  5 working days and the 2nd part consist of 2 off days (usually).
So they are your days OFF work or at-least meant to be so.

Things I Like About Me

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance” ~ Oscar Wild

I believe being women we have a natural ability to make lists (well sticking to it is a totally different issue LOL!!)
Anyway as I was saying we make To-Do lists, grocery shopping lists, weekly cleaning lists, monthly cleaning lists....and lists referring to the lists we made. But have you ever made a list titled "Things I like About Me"?
So that is what we will be doing today. I challenge you to make a list about the things that you like about yourself.

When your toddler is sick!!

"The appearance of a disease is swift as an arrow; its disappearance slow, like a thread."  ~Chinese Proverb

When your little one falls sick it sometimes takes a tool on the whole household doesn't it? Well if anyone in the house falls sick it does affect the smooth running of the household but it can still be managed to some extend. But when your toddler is sick it kind of rips your heart, mind and body.
So how do we deal with a sick toddler? How to care for him/her and how to keep ourselves sane doing it?

From January to June 2011

I have decided to make a list of the articles I wrote about for the last 6 months. Well this will hopefully be a start for me in the direction of a more organized blog.

In case you missed anything this is the time to catch up.

Looking Back

"The past is a good place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there."  ~Author Unknown

Can you believe.....half the year is already over. We will be stepping into the remaining 6 months of the year 2011 on the 1st of July. So how has the year been so far? Did you do some (if not all) of your New Year Resolutions? Or did you at least try?
It is time to take out the list we prepared under the title "My New Year Resolution". If you don't have can always make one now. Resolutions can be made any time of the year (this line is borrowed from my sister) go ahead and make one if you hadn't.

Pretty Women!!

"You can take no credit for beauty at sixteen.  But if you are beautiful at sixty, it will be your soul's own doing."  ~Marie Stopes

When you become a mom there is one thing that you tend to neglect and that is your looks. If you are a well organized mother who has time to put on clean clothes, makeup and look like a million bucks then please do send me your tips on how you do it. But as of now I have a few of my own which being lazy as I am I manage to follow some how on most days.

My Son's Dad!!

"It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons."  ~Johann Schiller

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear 'Father's Day'? For most of us we recall our dad and remember that this day we should wish him or gift him and make it special for him in some way for being a great dad. But what about my son's Dad? He too is a DAD and as a wife I think I need to spare some though about this Dad too.

Making Traditions

"Family traditions counter alienation and confusion. They help us define who we are; they provide something steady, reliable and safe in a confusing world. "~  Susan Lieberman

I read a nice post from Prerna of 'The MOM Writes' on having family traditions that will make life 'as a family' special.(Read Prerna's Post).
This got me we (our threesome) have a family tradition or traditions? How or where should I start? Did we have family tradition before when I was a kid? Ok! my mind works like that....crazy right.....but when you read nice stuff you will think about it right? So after some pondering I decided that I should have family traditions too. But what I didn't realize then was that I already have some of my own.

Make your Bed

"Your bed in the bedroom is what the sink is to your kitchen."~ Kelly (from FLYLady).

My bed is my favorite spot in my room. It has been so for a very long time. In my college days my hostel bed served as a multifunctional unit. Apart from sleeping I used to study, read, draw, write, pray, play, dine and relax on it. So you see I have a soft corner for my bed....and I still do. Today I will tell you a little (too much) about making your bed. The why? the how? and the why not!!

Gifts for Dad

"A hug is a great gift - one size fits all, and it's easy to exchange."  ~Author Unknown

I love giving gifts to people and receiving them too. I am quite good at selecting gifts for women....I hardly take time to select gifts for my girl friends, my sister, cousins, mother.....or any lady who I have known for a while. But when it comes to the men....I have to admit I am pathetic (or so I feel). I get confused, I don't know if what I get will be valued, liked or if it is the right choice.
What do you do when you want to gift a man? A special you dad?
In today's post I will be telling you a little about what I would and would not gift my dad.

D for Daddy!!

"A father is always making his baby into a little woman.  And when she is a woman he turns her back again."  ~Enid Bagnold

June is a very special month for me.....from a religious point June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and even though I am not much of a religious person I do have a special relationship with my Jesus. Apart from that we have the Father's Day falling in this month too and last but not the least my dad's birthday also happens to be in this month. June for me is thus a very special month. As you all might have already guessed today's post is dedicated to my dad.

Making Memories

"Memory... is the diary that we all carry about with us."  ~Oscar Wilde

One of my favorite pass time is to go through photo albums. It takes me back in time and brings back sweet memories of days gone by. My parents have taken loads of lovely photos of me and my sister from the time we were in our diapers up-to now. We have albums of different sizes with family moments that include Christmas, birthdays, vacations, picnics, tours and more.

"Part of the reason that men seem so much less loving than women is that men's behavior is measured with a feminine ruler."  ~Francesca M. Cancian

Though like most women I feel men are too complicated to understand and they don't share their feeling, they don't open up, they are not demonstrative, not expressive....and a whole lot of  "are not..." they do have a few remarkable traits that we could learn and adopt from. I know what you are thinking....."hey!! whose side you are on lady?"....Naaa... I am not taking sides here but just stating a few things I do admire in men.

Double Trouble!!

"A bend in the road is not the end of the road... unless you fail to make the turn."~ Unknown
There are moments in life when you look at the lives of those around you and think "Oh! well that can't happen to me"  or "Thank God! that didn't happen to me". But sooner or later you might end up in the exact spot or situation in your life and wonder "What will I do now?". And there are times in life when you are already in a muddle and feel that this is the worst that could happen....and what could possibly be more worse than this when you end up in more stressful situation.

B for Baby!!

"A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on."  ~Carl Sandburg

My previous post was on what to buy for yourself while you are expecting (the link:  Baby on Board!!). In this post I will be giving you a list of some of the things you might want to buy for your baby. Again these are what I have bought and think you might need and this list should serve as a guide for you when you are making your "what to get for baby" list. You can always add or subtract from this. It is better to have an idea about them before you hit the baby section of the department store.

Baby on Board !!

"A ship under sail and a big-bellied woman,
Are the handsomest two things that can be seen common."
~Benjamin Franklin

Sometimes when you chat with a friend or read their mails you tend to go back in time to the days when you spend time with them and had loads of fun. And sometimes you are send back in time when you were in a stage of your life in which they are pregnancy.
A few of my friends are currently pregnant.Wow!! Exciting news...yes and I am thrilled for them plus I am now thinking about all the possible concers and doubts they will have during this time...just the way I did when I was 'expecting'.

Books for Moms..

"A grand adventure is about to begin. ~ Winnie the Pooh"

Everyone reads some baby book or the other while they are pregnant. I have done the same. And my personal favorite is titled What to Expect When You are Expecting. This was the first book from this collection that I laid my hands on. After this I became a great fan of their series of books some of which I have read and some of which I am still reading. So lets see what they offer...shall we?

My Reality Checker

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."  ~Philip K. Dick

It is always nice to own a device that would constantly (or once in a while) instill in you some kind of control. Like a weighing machine which reminds you that you are crossing the feed limit by indicating the tip in the scale when you step on it....not one of my personal favorites of-course. The one I am going to talk about is the Reality Checker as I fondly like to call it.

"A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."  ~John Henry Newman

I don't know from where I got it a characteristic of my Sun Sign or is it something I inherited for my parents, grandparents or ancestors....or is it something that I began to use as a yardstick to measure myself when I reached a specific age or stage in my life......this craving for perfection.

In 15!

"You can do anything for 15 minutes" ~ FLYlady

Today I am going to share with you the amazing power of 15. Just 15min. is all you need to invest in doing a little organizing that you always wanted to do. Don't believe me...I urge you to try it.

"Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing."  ~Harriet Braiker

"No one is perfect... that's why pencils have erasers."  ~Author Unknown

There is a crack in everything,
That's how the light gets in."

Simplify your wardrobe

"The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."  ~Hans Hofmann

Do you have a cupboard overflowing with clothes? Do you feel that all the clothes you have in there are being used by you at sometime or the other through out the year? Well it is time to think again and to take a closer look at not only your selection of clothes but also your shoes, handbags and more......How?
Let me introduce you to PROJECT 333 (check out the link at the bottom of the post to read all about it). I learned a lot from this project and have summed them up in my own words.

Shine your sink?

"Our house is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy."  ~Author Unknown

As part of being in the organizing clinch for the past month or two I have embarked on a mission to learn something new and interesting to make my life more organized and manageable. Some times the most silly things that may sound utterly ridicules actually works wonders to boost our ability to attain our goal (in my case being organized). One such thing is "Shine your Sink". You might be wondering what I am talking about and I will shortly embark on a life changing narration of how Shine Your Sink made a difference in my life ( I will keep it short).

One Year !!!

"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today."  ~Stacia Tauscher

Yesterday was my son's first birthday. Wow! how fast time went....I can remember how small he was and how so dependent on me for everything big and small and now he is quite an independent little fellow. As the years go by I know he will need less and less of me. I have decided to enjoy what is left of his dependence on me while it lasts.

LOVE yourself...

"The things we hate about ourselves aren't more real than things we like about ourselves."  ~Ellen Goodman

A few weeks back I saw an add on TV which had an interesting was Valentines day based....anyway it was interesting because it said...."It's all about loving yourself" (it was an eBay add - to be precise).

To be or not to be?!!

"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but
whose place no one else can take."
-- Cardinal Mermillod

After you become a mother there are a whole lot of questions that you have to find answers to. Apart from how to take care of a small and demanding human being (which is confusing and challenging enough) we are faced with one major dilemma "Should I go to work or stay at home looking after my baby?" This is a very important question that most mothers ask themselves even before the baby arrives.

"A bell is no bell 'til you ring it,
A song is no song 'til you sing it,
And love in your heart
Wasn’t put there to stay -
Love isn’t love
'Til you give it away."
~Oscar Hammerstein

"Love - a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker."  ~Author Unknown

"True love stories never have endings."  ~Richard Bach
"Candle light, moon light, star light,
The brightest glow is from love light."
~Grey Livingston

"A place for everything, and everything in its place."
~ Isabella Mary Beeton
Clean and organized spaces (be it big or small) offer a visual treat, a mental calmness and a somewhat unexplainable feeling of happiness (I am not exaggerating).

Getting things done

"It's incredibly easy to get caught up in an activity trap, in the busy-ness of life, to work harder and harder at climbing the ladder of success only to discover it's leaning against the wrong wall. It is possible to be busy - very busy - without being very effective."~ Stephen Covey

A few days back I was discussing some work related issues with my husband (my adviser in adversities) he gave me an excellent suggestion on how to reduce work related stress. He said ask your senior to "prioritize" the projects that you are working on for you - this way you can deal with them on a more organized manner - one work at a time.

"The act of putting pen to paper encourages pause for thought, this in turn makes us think more deeply about life, which helps us regain our equilibrium."  ~Norbet Platt

In my early teens I developed the love for writing. No, not stories and novels but just about myself and my thoughts that were way too much for me to handle. I used to call them as diary entries and were done in a pretty pink diary with a small lock (the typical girly type).

Let's play!!

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" ~ Proverb

I read a lot of articles supporting the theory - Children need to play in-order  to learn important skills.
Can you imagine that they are learning a whole lot by just throwing toys around(LOL!!!) . So this is for all you little Einsteins and Madame Curies out there.

The Early Bird!!

"The older generation thought nothing of getting up at five every morning - and the younger generation doesn't think much of it either."  ~John J. Welsh

Blast form the past:My dad always woke up at 4:30am despite what day it was. He showed no partiality what so ever to any day of the week...everyday was the same...even on weekends or holidays...he was up at 4:30am.
