New Year Resolutions

"Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man."  ~Benjamin Franklin

Its that time of the year again when most of us try to turn into a new leaf in the coming new year. We make note of all that we intended to do in the year that went by and then make up a list which we call the New Year Resolution.

Not measuring up?!!!

"Christmas gift suggestions:  To your enemy, forgiveness.  To an opponent, tolerance.  To a friend, your heart.  To a customer, service.  To all, charity.  To every child, a good example.  To yourself, respect."  ~Oren Arnold

"It's not Christmas unless you have a Christmas tree decorated with loads of streamers and lights....
It's not Christmas if you don't have a star shining bright....
It's not Christmas if you haven't baked a cake...
It's not Christmas if you don't have a bottle of wine or champagne....
It's not Christmas if you haven't bread and stew....
If all this is what makes Christmas to you then I have no Christmas this Christmas I tell you...... "

Memories of Christmas

"When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness."  ~Bob Hope
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. As the time for celebration and thanksgiving approaches nearer I am fondly recollecting all my past memories. I cannot control myself from being transported back in time whenever I hear Christmas songs of Jim Reeves and Boney M.

Christmas Spirit

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree:  the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other."  ~Burton Hillis

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."  ~Norman Vincent Peale

"Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree.  In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall."  ~Larry Wilde

"It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air." ~W.T. Ellis

"Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself..."
~Norman Wesley Brooks, "Let Every Day Be Christmas," 1976

"I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month."  ~Harlan Miller

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas
"The best Christmas gift, you can give to your family and yourself is the joy of being together."

'C' is for the Christ child, born upon this day,
'H' for herald angels in the night,
'R' means our Redeemer,
'I' means Israel,
'S' is for the star that shone so bright,
'T' is for three wise men, they who traveled far,
'M' is for the manger where he lay,
'A'’s for all He stands for,
'S' means shepherds came.

Cooking with a twist

"Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity."  ~Voltaire

I like watching cookery shows, they kind of inspire me to cook. I am quite lazy in that department or should I say rather scared of trying out new things as they have a history of not turning out right when I make them. Now I have turned my attention to cooking blogs. I have been through loads of them lately.

Almost there but not perfect...

"Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing."  ~Phyllis Diller

There are a quite a few things that you have to learn to live with on becoming a mother. One of the things is that your house isn't going to be picture perfect from now on.
Its going to have unfolded clothes on the couch, overflowing laundry baskets, dishes in the sink, beds undone and whole lot more.

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."  ~Herm Albright

"Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."  ~Winston Churchill

"Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you thing about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are." ~Norman Vincent Peale

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” ~Winston Churchill

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.” ~  Willie Nelson

Being a Mum

"The trouble with learning to parent on the job is that your child is the teacher."  ~Robert Brault

As a young mother I had a lot of things to conquer before I finally became one. A child brings a lot of things into your life other than joy. He brings confusion, mess, tension, anxiety and a whole lot of things....but you know what....in the end its all worth it.

"If nature had arranged that husbands and wives should have children alternatively, there would never be more than three in a family."  ~Lawrence Housman

"If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging."
~Diane Loomans

"Ma-ma does everything for the baby, who responds by saying Da-da first."  ~Mignon McLaughlin

"A child enters your home and for the next twenty years makes so much noise you can hardly stand it.  The child departs, leaving the house so silent you think you are going mad."  ~John Andrew Holmes

"If you have never been hated by your child you have never been a parent."  ~Bette Davis

"Sure God created man before woman.  But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece."  ~Author Unknown

"A man's face is his autobiography.  A woman's face is her work of fiction."  ~Oscar Wilde

"The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think."  ~Author Unknown

"I prefer the word homemaker, because housewife always implies that there may be a wife someplace else."  ~Bella Abzug

"Women always worry about the things that men forget; men always worry about the things women remember."  ~Author Unknown

Just do it !

I have been thinking so hard lately to arrive at a topic to write on. Maybe I am experiencing something called a writers block (hehehe!!!!). So I decided to share something I did based on something I read ( I hope I didn't confuse you).

Lessons from Driving

I was quite contended sitting in the back seat of a cab immersed in my own thoughts or the passenger seat next to my husband chit chatting about various things. It was only when I began to drive that I realized the responsibilities of the one sitting in the hot seat.
Well these are a few of the things that I leaned after becoming a driver and some quotes to match them.

Friends forever

"Sisters is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship."  ~Margaret Mead

I share a special bond with my sister who is 8 years younger than me.The age gap may seem as a factor that would hinder bonding among the siblings these days but in our case it was a plus factor.

Baby Steps

“Children learn from their parents” it’s a very common phrase and it’s quite true. But have you tried learning from them for a change?
I believe babies are God’s little angles and they remain so until this world and we corrupt them (or let’s say until they learn from their surroundings). As I watch my 7 month old baby I begin to realize that somehow my baby has lots to teach me.

Think About It

We take so many things for granted. I am not taking about the people around us (though we take them for granted too) but I am talking about something simpler than that. It’s so simple that we don’t even think about it. It’s our sense of smell.Have you ever smelled something that brought back fond memories of your childhood or some person like your grandmother or something that is connected with your past? Well it happened to me a few weeks back.

Friends !!

August is a month that I associate with friendship bands and friends. It brings back sweet memories about the time I shared with some of my most amazing friends during my college years. This is dedicated to all my dear friends. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.....
